About the Event
A very SPECIAL evening, for a small (Corona safe) group of 15 max, celebrating the Cycle of Life at a magical location in the Kijkduin dunes. Together we will make a full circle with stories, music, poems, fingerfood, refreshing drinks and much, much more!
Kasia Guraj, Francine de Graaf, Terra Norihiro Terazawa, Connor McMullen & Michael Driebeek van der Ven have created an evening where stories and our senses will take us on a journey through the Cycle of Life. From the Creation of Time & Birth, via Growth, Discovery & Rooting to Nourishing, Death and Reunion.
We will gather at 19h30 in front of Restaurant De Haagse Beek on Machiel Vrijenhoeklaan 175, Kijkduin The Hague.
Accross the road from there, together we will climb up a long set of stairs (about 60 steps) to the top of the dune.
Inside the dune is 'The Vault'; a beautiful, circulair, outside location, covered with grass and sloping sides. (we will have blakets to sit on or to wrap yourself in, if needed)
Here we will experience the program together.
Over the course of 2 hours, the tellers will take us through the cycles of life using stories, music, poems and through making use of all our senses. You can just sit and enjoy.
Also, there will be fingerfood and refreshing drinks as part of the experience.
In the middle will be a intermission but during the program there will lots of time to be still, digest, chat or just be quiet whilst taking it all in as well.
At the end of the program, again you will have enough time to just sit and chat or walk around as you please.
We will end at about 22h00.
NOTE. We will be outside; so please bring something warm and know that there is no toilet in the dunes.
To inspire us, the internationally renowned poet David Whyte wrote:
"Your great mistake is to act the drama as if you were alone.
As if life was a progressive and cunning crime with no witness to the tiny hidden transgressions.
To feel abandoned is to deny the intimacy of your surroundings. Surely even you, at times, have felt the great array; the swelling presence, and the chorus, crowding out your solo voice. You must note the way the soap dish enables you, or the window latch grants you freedom. Alertness is the hidden discipline of familiarity.
The stairs are your mentor of things to come, the doors have always been there to frighten you and invite you, and the tiny speaker in the phone is your dream-ladder to divinity.
Put down the weight of your aloness and ease into the conversation. The kettle is singing even as it pours you a drink, the cooking pots have left their arrogant aloofness and seen the good in you at last. All the birds and creatures of the world are unutterably themselves. Everything is waiting for you."
If this quote resonates with you, then the gathering is definitely a place for you to be!
REMEMBER: Due to restrictions, we can only host a limited amount of guests. So please be swift in signing up!
